Are contingency fees legal in Austria?

Not as a share of the result. Section 879(2)(2) of the Austrian Civil Code makes void an agreement by which a lawyer takes part of the amount in dispute as a fee (quota litis). Fee agreements that reward success in other ways, such as a bonus on top of a base fee, are possible.
